Product Owner (Remote) (Volunteer)

Prayers Connect Inc, a 501(3)(c) non-profit based in New York, is building a platform to facilitate connections between mosques and muslims. This is our dawah work through digital technologies. The primary goal is to facilitate the mosque-goers to discover mosques, iqamah (prayers in congregation time), islamic events, islamic schools (coming soon, iA) etc. and allow mosque’s management team to easily connect to their members, donors and ultimately building a complete management system for them.

Prayers Connect is primarily built by volunteers. Most of our contributors have other full-time jobs. However, in addition to our volunteers, we’ve found our internship programs to be extremely successful. Interns were able to get hands-on experience on some of the technologies we use (depending on the work area), learn even more new technologies and get coaching and mentorship from experienced professionals, etc. At the same time, they are also able to make meaningful contributions in world-class products providing them valuable knowledge and experience to be successful in their career.

Technologies used at Prayers Connect:

Javascript/Typescript, React.js, React-Native, Expo, Next.js, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS (S3, CF, Lambda, API Gateway), DigitalOcean, Google Cloud, Terraform, Github Action, Cloudflare, etc. while building a platform with core mission of improving muslims' connection to mosques.

Product Owner (Volunteer)

Prayers Connect is extending its coverage in many other areas. We're looking for volunteer product owners to lead those initiatives. We're open to both experienced product owners and/and someone new to product ownership and looking to gain real life experience. 

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

• Own a part of the overall product
• Work with leadership to create product roadmap
• Analyze, Research & improve product as a continuous basis
• Create, own and prioritize backlog 
• Identify the product's success criteria
• Work with project manager/scrum masters, UX designers & engineers to implement features, fixing bugs
• Provide continuous feedback to UX and engineering team during development
• Product outreach and promotion 

Requirements:

• You have an understanding of product management/ownership
• You have at least 5 hours / week to if you are experienced product owner
• You have at least 15 hours / week if you are not experienced product owner. You also need to be pro internet user. 
• Interest and ability to join team's agile activities
